History of Folkestone Rowing Club 1926 - 1945

The brief history of the club was written by Gordon Baker who was club Secretary for many years. The club moved premises during this period from Folkestone to Sandgate.

Sunday 8th February 2009 - The Dave Rumbold was launched at the Clubhouse. Club Captain Marc Alderman presided over events at the end of his first year in the post.


2009 New Years Day Football MatchFootball Match

The traditional New Years day football match turned out to be a hotly contested affair.
A few members from Bexhill RC were up for the previous evenings festivities and came along to join in the fun. The ten aside game resulted in a very close scoreline.

25th December -Annual Christmas Day DipChristmas Swimmers

The Christmas day dip included twelve brave hearts. The dip (And I mean Dip) was fast a furious with many spectators looking colder than those that went in.

For a few it was there first time and hence they wrapped up a little warmer than those that had been in before. For some it was the twentieth or more time that madness had overcome them!

Sunday 7th May 2006 - The Derek Mansell and Andy West boats were launched. The boats, a Double scull / Pair and a Quad Scull / Four boat was purchased with fund donated by KCC. Club Captain David Rumbold presided over events.
