Folkestone Rowing Club Football Match, New Years Day 2009
The traditional New Years day football match kicked off at 11:00 am. This light hearted affair (yeah right!!) was for all ages. Jumpers for goal posts with the bounderies being marked by whatever natural obsticle existed. The start was fairly vigorous, players flagging depending on what alcohol had been consumed the night before! A minutes rest and then chase the ball again.
Sending off offences
There were times when you looked for the referee - err, there wasnt one but Im sure that a few yellow and red cards should have been issued!
The first (left), well there is the saying that the FBI always get there man (Eventually) but I'm not sue that Craig is an FBI man. This tackle seems better placed for the rugby field and is definitely a red for Dangerous play! The Second (right) was a successful trip bringing the man down to stop him scoring. He was the last man defending so an automatic sending off!
Mark, I know Rooney does it on TV but thats what watching Man U does for you!
Yellow Cards
There were a few bookings as well!
(Left) The re-appearance of Maradonna (aka Fat Boy Craig No 7) seemed to be trying to emulate the 1986 world cup and failing. Seems that the extra pounds from Christmas would have had something to do with it!
(Right) I guess that Nathan could be forgiven for thinking that anything goes after the tackle mentioned in Red Cards.
The problem is that you should be carefull who you shove in the back. In this case its club captain Marc and that definitley does not get you a good boat next season.
The night before and lack of sleep started to tell. The odd collapse in a heap on the floor.
The dog got more interested at this stage.
On a whole a fun game was had by all althoug Craig needed a few stiches in his foot.
